Ike is already causing problems for NC. Gas prices are soaring and there are gas stations running out of gas and the storm hasn't even hit the Texas coast!
The media is having a hay day with this story and it seems to be fueling the problem.
Will filled up my car at 10:30am because it was on empty and it was $3.67 for regular gas, when we came home at 1:00 the same gas station had regular gas at $3.79 per gallon. This wasn't that big of an increase but another station on our way home was charging $4.12 and a place in a neighboring town is charging $5.35!! It is crazy.
A few stations are only allowing you to fill up with 10 gallons of gas. I think this making people panic and they are frantic to fill up. Luckily we have two cars with full tanks. Will was contemplating Cliff's advice of filling up all available containers with gas but he hasn't broken out the Tupperware yet :)
I just can't believe that we are having this problem and Shauna said her local station in Texas was fine, no shortage, no problems!
Keep your fingers crossed that Ike doesn't pack to much of a punch for Texas.
