"In the Dog House"

Maddy is definitely "in the dog house."

This weekend, we caught her red-handed on (literally) the counter eating Lily's food. For those who do not know, Lily is our cat of 4 years. She was our first pet, and she is the one who really rules the house.
Lily's food is temporaily parked on our counter, which is, oddly enough, easy accessible from the stairs. Will came into the kitchen Saturday morning and found Maddy on the counter inhaling Lily's food. Apparently she not only enjoys dog food, but cat food as well!

On top of being in trouble, Maddy is no longer allowed to jump up and relax on the couch. Even worse, she's banned from our bed (she believes that it's her right to sleep with us). As you can imagine, this is a very tough adjustment for Maddy because until now, she has not realized that she is a dog. She genuinely believes she's "one of us."

She now mopes around the house, moaning and giving us pathetic looks. She is quite the "drama queen." We'll see how long she remains on the floor, as Will often gives in and takes pity on her. She loves laying on the couch with him and will beg to be let up every night. We'll see how long his will power holds up.
With all that said, she does appear to be adjusting (a little!).

If she thinks this is a change, wait until Olivia arrives! :)

Baby Class #2

UPDATE: Last night (February 26th), I attended the second Baby Class BY MYSELF!!!

I had to go alone because Will was in Scottsdale, Arizona meeting with one of his business partners. He told me that the date on which the meeting feel was outside of his control...but I'm not so sure.

Frankly, I think he may have asked for it to be on Tuesday. Based on the first class we went to, I could tell that its kind of tough for him to sit through a 2 hour class, let alone one with "graphic" videos and pictures.

I'm sure (not really) that he missed learning the "Level 2" and "Level 3" breathing exercises, along with massage techniques to help with contractions. I'll definitely agree with him that it is kind of weird to do these exercises and watch these videos with a group of people...especially a group of strangers!

In the end I am sure we will be glad that we attended the classes. Just three more classes to go...think Will can make it?

Painting Finished!

Here are some pictures of Olivia's nursery. We painted yellow above the chair rail and light sage green below. Will made a last minute change on the color selection at Lowes and did a great job. The color combination looks great together.

I am trying to schedule delivery of the crib and changing table from Pottery Barn Kids. It is proving to be a difficult task. The delivery company will set up a delivery date but you can't get the delivery time (2 hour window) until the day before the scheduled date. Since we both work all day this could be tough, it may take a few times to get a time and date that works. Once we have the crib and changing table, I will post new pictures of the nursery.

Starting to get ready...

We started painting the nursery on Friday and finished it up Saturday afternoon. We had a few "minor" setbacks (like dumping a ton of paint on the canvas floor covering!) but we both agree that it looks great! We are looking forward to seeing it with the furniture once it arrives. We'll post the pictures of the finished room soon.

We installed a chair rail in the baby's room. Will's Mom painted the vine design that was etched into the wood so that it stood out.

Will starting the process of painting yellow above the rail. Clearly loving it.

Maddy stood guard to make sure noone interrupted Will's work!

Allie was a bit nervous about the painting so she was a little tentative about coming into the room. Anything new scares her, so she kept her distance.

Snow Storm in Greensboro

Last Thursday we had a suprise snow fall. It was actually quite pretty. We started getting snow Wednesday night and Thursday morning it was still there! We had a two hour delay for work so I was able to play outside with the dogs. You can tell that they love the cold weather and snow to play in.

Allie hanging out on the deck, waiting for me to throw her toy.

Checkup- approx. 31 weeks

Today I had a checkup with Dr. Anderson, I will be 31 weeks on Saturday and I am measuring right on schedule. I am uploading a picture so you can see how big I have gotten...as I said before I think I am growing every day! Kind of scary to think about how big I will be at the end of April!

31 weeks. I think that I look much bigger now!

Here I am at about 28 weeks.

Our First Entry

2/20/2008

Will: Last night, we went to our first "Baby Class" held at the Women's Hospital's Education Center. Needless to say, it was a little too "personal" for me, with group exercises, videos and cheesy breathing exercises.

Andrea, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy it, which is the important thing.

I'll have to miss the next one (held every Tuesday for 5 weeks), as I'll be in Scottsdale, AZ.; however, Andrea has been advised that she will still go.

Andrea: The class last night went alright. We were a bit nervous about how "interactive" the class would be but it ended up being fairly low-key. We survived the breathing exercise and are now FULLY aware what will likely happen when Olivia arrives.

I am 30 1/2 weeks along (only 9 1/2 weeks left till her arrival, if she decides to make an on time entrance). She is already very active (she must take after Will). She kicks and moves around all the time. I swear I am getting bigger by the day. I am going to try and have Will take a picture tomorrow so we can post a recent photo.

The girls (Maddy and Allie) at times seem to be a bit more interested in me but that could be because I feed them....not because I am pregnant. Their reaction to our new arrival will be interesting. They say as the baby develops they can hear noises and will get used to common sounds, so I am hoping that Maddy's greetings of howling at people will be something that she is already used to, and not something that makes her cry. It is impossible to keep Maddy quiet, she loves to talk

I guess this is a pretty good first post. We are looking forward to keeping everyone updated through our blog!
